The 90-hectare Jurong Lake Gardens is Singapore’s only National Garden in the heartlands, comprising Lakeside Garden, Chinese and Japanese Gardens. Its design and programmes were shaped together with the people through extensive public engagement and ground-up involvement.
The Gardens feature a range of therapeutic landscapes that enhance the accessibility of greenery and its restorative benefits for diverse communities. Designed using evidence-based principles, these landscapes include therapeutic gardens, nature playgardens, and contemplative landscapes that support different dimensions of health and well-being.
Through partnerships with various stakeholders and community partners, Jurong Lake Gardens brings nature-based programmes such as nature walks, edible gardening, and therapeutic horticulture closer to the community. In line with larger national health initiatives that emphasise preventive health and active ageing, these health-promoting activities contribute to Singapore’s health and social ecosystem – within Jurong Lake District and beyond.
